Updated Entryway and Powder Room

entry powder2The only updating these two spaces have gotten in the 4 years we have lived here is a little paint and some shelving and I’ve always wanted to do something to add some personality here, so the past few months we’ve been slowly working on these areas and I’m happy to say they’re finally complete!

Here’s what we started with:

And here was my initial idea board for the bathroom:

First step was painting the vanity. I got several different sample colors and painted them on poster boards to decide which I liked best and the winning color was Benjamin Moore’s chimichurri except I lightened it just a tad.

I picked up these cutie little handles from Lowe’s.

Next up were the walls. I had been dying to try Shannon’s faux shiplap tutorial for awhile and I finally buttered my hubby up enough to get him to help me with it. It was a long process.

But we are in love with the finished product!

We painted the walls and trim Alabaster by sherwin Williams in a satin sheen.

The next thing I did was add this beautiful olive branch wallpaper accent wall.

It’s probably my favorite thing in this space! And man, was it simple to do! It’s peel and stick so it’s basically like working with a giant vinyl decal.

All that was left was adding the final touches to complete this space. We added a new light fixture

A new faucet

A new mirror

new towel and toilet paper holders

And we definitely can’t forget about this cute rug

After that it was just a matter of decorating the space. Here are some my favorite decorations in this space:

Next big project was the tile. I had painted and stenciled the linoleum floors in our guest bath and had considered it for this space too, but this bath and entry way is used all day every day and is probably the place with the most traffic in our home so we wanted something that would hold up to all of that and I just didn’t trust paint. Plus, my dad had kindly offered to come help us install tile so we took him up on his generous offer. Here’s what the floors looked like before:

It was definitely a labor of love and installing patterned tile is not as easy as you would think

We purchased this tile from Lowe’s. The finished product was a thing of beauty!

The next thing we did was a super easy, super simple DIY board and batten on the walls of our entry way. We also painted the top black. We used Black Magic by sherwin Williams in the sheer satin. I am obsessed with this color and am now looking for other places to add it in our home.

I did this whole board and batten project on my own other than a few cuts with Zach’s help. You have no idea how proud that makes me! I’m basically a professional contractor now 🤣

We also gave the doors a coat of paint while we were at it. We used this amazing paint sprayer and it made the process go so fast and so smoothly.

The coat hooks I found on amazon and I love the modernness and functionality they bring to this space.

Overall, we are so pleased with this space and we learned so much! I am so proud of our hard work and the fact that we got out of our comfort zone and tried something we wouldn’t normally do!
