This recipe has been in my family for as long as I can as I have a memory. I remember helping my mom make these as a small child in our little farmhouse kitchen in my tiny little apron. Everything about these cookies reminds me of home, and family, and togetherness, and Christmas, and all the feels. These are hands-down my favorite basic sugar cookie recipe. These aren’t that great for making shapes with because they do spread out quite a bit, but they are perfect for making into balls and the taste CANNOT be beat. Ingredients:
1cupsugar
½cupCrisco shortening
½cupsalted butter
1egg
1tspvanilla
pinch of salt
2cupsall purpose flour
½tspbaking soda
½tspcream of tarter

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cream first 3 ingredients together with an electric mixer. Add remaining ingredients. Roll into walnut size balls. Dip into granulated sugar. Place on ungreased cookie sheet Flatten with bottom of a glass (or just use the palm of your hand). Bake for 10 minutes.
